Third-Year Cardiovascular Fellow Aishwarya Vijay, MD, was chosen to participate in the 2025 World Heart Federation Salim Yusuf Emerging Leaders Cohort. Applicants to this program represented 25 countries across 5 continents. The program was held in November in Florence, Italy.
The Salim Yusuf Emerging Leaders Program was developed to create a long-term cadre of experts who collaborate, research, and act to reduce premature mortality from cardiovascular disease globally. The Programme, established by Dr Salim Yusuf in 2014, provides training and networking opportunities in cardiovascular health policy and implementation research for healthcare practitioners, researchers, and global health advocates.
Training focuses on a different goal each year, such as secondary prevention, tobacco control, access to essential medicines, diabetes, infectious diseases, and digital health.
The 2025 program theme was “the timely and impactful theme of Artificial Intelligence for Cardiovascular Health through Implementation Research.”
