To better address the growing need for general cardiologists, we have created a new track: the Focused General Cardiology Track.
The Focused General Cardiology Track builds on the strong clinical foundation of our fellowship program. After completing the two core clinical years of training like all fellows, those fellows who participate in this track will spend their third year focusing on training designed to optimize skills for a career in General Cardiology. The exposure to clinical training is unparalleled with opportunities for outpatient, inpatient, imaging and more.
Customized third year experiences are guided by career goals within General Cardiology. These experiences may include leading inpatient clinical services on both primary and consultative services, outpatient experience at our flagship academic medical center, Barnes-Jewish Hospital, and satellite clinics, as well as dedicated imaging or procedural experiences. The goal is for fellows to have incremental autonomy with appropriate supervision to ensure success after graduate from the Focused General Cardiology Track.
A highlight of this track is the exceptional mentorship fellows receive in the form of meetings early in training with our division chief and other leaders within General Cardiology that will help ensure growth and development while planning steps beyond fellowship. Mentors in this track also work closely with the fellows to help identify suitable clinical careers beyond training.
Why should you apply to this track?
We aim to develop exceptional clinical general cardiologists through this track. While most programs train general cardiologists, this track will provide early and focused mentorship to optimize your clinical practice. In addition, the flexibility and organized clinical training experience during the third year can ensure your success as you transition into practice.
Applicants interested in pursuing a clinical practice in General Cardiology are highly encouraged to apply to this track.
