Division Faculty Promote Heart Health in School Outreach Program

Since 2016, Dr. Linda Peterson has spearheaded Project Heartstrong- a school outreach program to bring heart health education to the Normandy School District in North St. Louis County. Every February since, she and a growing team of division faculty and staff have visited classrooms with kid-approved interactive lessons. This year the group visited 245 kids and teachers at Normandy Middle School with science facts about the cardiovascular system, nutrition tips and ways to stay heart healthy, and demonstrations by sonographers. Each child was able to take home a stethoscope at the end of the visit.

In the years since beginning the program, Project Heartstrong has reached around 1300 total children in classrooms across several schools in the Normandy School District. Dr. Peterson sends a big thanks to all those who helped!
