The team in the Cardiac Diagnostic Lab at Barnes-Jewish Hospital have won a 2025 QUEST (Quality, Excellence and Safety Team) award. This BJH award recognizes contributions made to improve organization performance and quality of care through the use of process and outcome measures. The CDL submission, CDL Echo Capacity and Workflow Optimization, also reflected goals of the BJC Heart & Vascular Growth Initiative.
CDL Patient Care Manager Sally Whitt collaborated with Dr. Nishath Quader and BJC H&V director Samantha Miller, among others, Leaders to identify and facilitate very intentional work and specific goals around CDL opportunities for improvement. Targeted areas were r/t overall volume capacity (inpatient and outpatient), order turnaround times (from TTE order placement to CDL initiating those exams), and outpatient accessibility/ wait times.
Sally Whitt says “we have made tremendous strides in all of these areas and from all directions– from behind-the-scenes EPIC order changes, intentional leader and physician standard work, and increased efficiencies and workflow changes with every CDL staff member, just to highlight a few.”
As a QUEST winner, the CDL team receives a framed team certificate , $1000 team monetary award and recognition during the Annual Employee Award Ceremony, currently scheduled for December 4th. Congratulations to the team on this major accomplishment!
