The mission of the Washington University Cardiovascular Fellowship Program is to develop leaders in clinical and investigational cardiology. We strive to promote excellence in research, education and patient care by providing outstanding clinical training in the setting of a rich academic environment.
Choose your own path
The cardiovascular fellowship is designed so that fellows complete their core clinical requirements by the end of their second year of training (see rotations). Beyond the second year, we encourage and support our fellows to custom design their own personalized training pathway by engaging in basic, translational, or clinical investigation. Alternatively, fellows may choose to develop specialized clinical expertise within a given area of cardiovascular medicine.
Individualized programs
We believe that personalized training in cardiology requires both a structured training program that provides a solid foundation and framework for learning, as well as the flexibility to tailor clinical and research training to best suit the individual needs of each fellow. We also recognize the importance of developing and supporting an engaged faculty, who are committed to mentoring and teaching our fellows.
