Director, Advanced Structural Heart Fellowship

The structural and valvular interventional fellowship is a unique one year training opportunity for advanced fellows who have completed their interventional cardiology training. The year focuses on developing the skills necessary to identify, evaluate, treat and follow patients with complex valvular heart disease in a multidisciplinary fashion. Fellows are exposed to a variety of patients in the inpatient and out patient setting with increasing service and procedural responsibilities as they progress. By year end, our fellow is proficient in the use of every commercially approved catheter valve replacement and repair technologies for all indications; and the exposure to non-commercially approved devices in different phases of development, Emphasis is placed in the procedural planning, CT post processing for appropriate device selection and procedural flow. Proficiency of closure of simple congenital and acquired structural cardiovascular defects (ASD, PFO, VSD, paravalvular leak closure) will be achieve at the end of training, by working in the adult and pediatric cath lab, Fellows are expected to participate and develop a research project to further advance the field of structural interventional cardiology during their training.
